Denmark follows right-hand traffic. The maximum speed limit is 110 km/h on expressways, 80 km/h on open roads, and 50 km/h in urban areas unless otherwise specified. Seat belts are mandatory, and any kind of mobile usage while driving is strictly prohibited. Additionally, all cars must have their headlights on, even during the daytime – yes, it’s a rule!
There are few petrol stations in the immediate vicinity of Aarhus Airport. You can find a Shell station on Bygholmvej in Horsens and Circle K on Vejlevej in Horsens. Always remember to fill up the tank ahead of the journey.
The quickest route to reach Aarhus city center is via Route 15, which is approximately 40 km and takes around 40-45 minutes depending on the traffic. Another alternative is Route 21 which is about 48 km and takes about 50 minutes.
Being in Denmark, you'll be using the Danish Krone (DKK) as currency. If you come from outside the EU, remember the VAT refund scheme, where you can claim back the VAT on certain purchases when leaving the EU. The common language is Danish, but almost everyone speaks English, particularly in tourist areas.
The Danish climate is temperate, characterized by mild winters and cool summers. Do pack some warm clothes even during summer; the Danish weather can be notoriously unpredictable.
