Getting Around Al Ain

Car Rentals

Visiting all the majestic sights this city has to offer is a breeze with a rental car. There are numerous car rental agencies around the city center and at the airport. We recommend booking a high-clearance vehicle or a 4x4 if you plan on drifting the sand dunes or navigating the rocky terrains of Jebel Hafeet Mountain.

Driving Rules and Speed Limits

Please note, they drive on the right side of the road in the UAE. Speed limits range from 40 km/h in urban areas to 120 km/h on highways. Always use your indicator when changing lanes and remember to carry your international driving permit.

Parking

Al Ain has plenty of parking spaces both free and paid. Some touristic locations may require a small fee. Note that Friday and public holidays are usually free.

Exploring Al Ain

Attractions

Top attractions include the Al Ain Oasis with its palm groves and tranquil paths, the Al Ain Zoo, home to over 200 species, and the Al Jahili Fort, which has a museum devoted to Emirati culture and history. Don't forget to visit the hot springs at Green Mubazzarah and the city’s highest peak, Jebel Hafeet.

Beaches and Parks

While Al Ain is not located directly on the coast, beautiful beaches like Al Mirfa Beach are just a short drive away. The city itself hosts several parks such as Al Ain Paradise garden, famous for its array of flowers.

Climate

Al Ain’s climate ranges from hot summers from June to September, to warm winters from December to February. The best time to visit is during the cooler months when outdoor activities are more comfortable.

Currency

The official currency of the UAE is the Dirham (AED). Credit cards are also widely accepted across Al Ain.

Seasonal Events

Annual events include the Al Ain Film Festival, held in January, and the Classical Music Festival in February, creating added cultural allure for visitors.

Finally...

No trip to Al Ain would be complete without exploring its souks. The Camel Souk is the last of its kind in the UAE, and the Central Souk is the place for traditional crafts, perfumes, and local delicacies. Enjoy your trip!
