Comandante Espora Airport, also known as BHI, serves the Bahía Blanca city in Buenos Aires Province, Argentina and is located 10 kilometres from the city center. This airport is named after Luis Conrado Espora, a pioneer in the Argentinian navy.
The main road from Comandante Espora Airport to the city center is National Route 3, a well-maintained road that makes for a smooth drive. It may be beneficial to prepare for your route on Google Maps or another navigation platform prior to setting off.
There are several gas stations in close proximity to the airport, ensuring you won't run out of fuel. For example, AXION energy and Puma Energy Argentina are less than five minutes from the airport. Be sure to fill up the tank of your rental car before returning it to avoid any extra charges.
Bahía Blanca has a temperate climate with an average annual temperature of around 16.5°C. In summer (December – March), temperatures can reach up to 35°C, while winter (June – September) days can cool down to 5°C. Generally, springtime from September to November is a popular time for tourists due to its pleasant climate and blooming landscapes.
The official currency in Argentina is the Argentine Peso (ARS). It might come in handy to have some cash for small expenses, but credit cards are widely accepted in most places.
Beyond Bahía Blanca, a journey with your rental car could take you to nearby cities and towns to further explore. Notable locations within a few hours’ drive include the beach town of Monte Hermoso, the historic Tandil, and the charming Sierra de la Ventana.
Remember that traffic laws might be different than what you’re used to. In Argentina, you drive on the right-hand side of the road and the minimum driving age is 18. Seat belts are compulsory for all passengers, and talking on the phone while driving is prohibited unless using a hands-free device.
Happy travels, and enjoy your adventure!
