Due to the terrain and the nature of the sights, a 4x4 vehicle is highly recommended. This will ensure a smooth, comfortable journey while exploring rough terrain and dusty tracks at places like Chobe National Park.
Driving in Kasane, like the rest of Botswana, is on the left side of the road. Always respect the speed limit of 60km/h in towns and 120km/h on highways. Watch out for wildlife crossing roads; it is a common occurrence here.
Parking in Kasane typically does not present a major issue. Always make sure to park in designated areas and avoid leaving your vacant car overnight in non-secured areas.
With your rented car, attractions like the Chobe National Park, one of Africa's premier wildlife reserves, and the Sedudu Gate, a main entrance to the park, are just a short drive away. Take a detour to the Chobe River for an exciting river safari too.
The Kasane International Airport, newly refurbished, is located a convenient 7km south of town. Major car rental companies operate from here, making it a perfect place to start your journey.
As a warm climate country, Botswana’s summer is from November to March. Expect cooler weather between May and August. Plan your wardrobe according to the season.
The local currency is the Botswana Pula (BWP). Credit cards are accepted by hotels and many businesses, but carrying some cash for smaller transactions may be useful.
