Driving in Las Terrenas is the best way to explore the city at your own pace. Rent a car from reliable local rental services or from the Samaná El Catey International Airport. Be sure to observe the speed limit of 50 km/h in town and 80 km/h on the highways.
There's plenty of parking in Las Terrenas. Street parking is the norm, but do keep an eye out for any parking restriction signs. If in doubt, paid parking is available and typically costs between 50 and 100 Dominican Peso (DOP) per hour.

With a consistently tropical climate throughout the year, there's hardly a bad time to visit Las Terrenas. The dry season (December to April) is the best time to visit. If you plan your visit in February, don't miss the colorful local Carnival.
The official currency is the Dominican Peso (DOP). US dollars are also widely accepted. It's recommended to have a mix of both for convenience.
