Driving is on the left side of the road in Thailand, and the driver's seat is on the right-hand side of the car. Seat belts are compulsory. The speed limit in city areas is typically 50 km/h, on highways 90 km/h, and on motorways 120 km/h.
Most hotels offer parking, and public parking lots are easily found throughout the city.
Loei boasts a unique blend of Lao and Thai cuisine. Don't miss out on trying local delicacies such as Som Tam (papaya salad), and Kai Yang (grilled chicken).
Loei enjoys a cooler climate compared to most parts of Thailand and is known for its Phi Ta Khon or Ghost Festival held in June. It's truly a spectacle with locals wearing ghost masks, parading, and dancing in the streets.
The local currency is Thai Baht (THB). Credit cards are widely accepted, but it's handy to have cash for street food, local markets, and smaller towns outside Loei.
With your rental car, exploring surrounding cities is a breeze. Nong Khai, Udon Thani, and Khon Kaen are just a few hours' drive away and offer a variety of attractions.
