Lucerne is beautiful year-round. Summer, June through August, allows you to enjoy lake activities, while winter, between December and February, is perfect for skiing on nearby mountains. Spring and autumn offer stunning landscapes of blooming flowers and colourful fall foliage.
Although Lucerne has a very efficient public transport system, nothing beats the freedom of exploring the countryside with a car. For solo travellers or couples, a compact car is perfect. If you’re traveling with family, consider a mid-sized vehicle. For an ultimate luxury experience, go for a premium car class.
The best places to park are in the city's numerous 'Parkhaus' or multi-storey car parks. Note that parking in the city can be expensive and many areas require a parking disc available at stores and petrol stations. Make sure to follow parking signs and rules.
Take the scenic Brunig Pass route to Interlaken, or drive to the beautiful town of Engelberg nestled at the foot of Mount Titlis. Get ready to be amazed by the breathtaking sights of these spectacular drives.
