Mostar is home to various attractions. Of course, the Stari Most is a must-visit. After you've gazed at the bridge, don't miss the chance to explore the rest of the Old Town, with its charming stone streets and Ottoman houses. Visit the Koski Mehmed-Pasha Mosque for a breathtaking city view.

Driving in Mostar

As exciting as it can be, driving in a foreign city can also be a daunting experience. But don't worry, just adhere to the rules of the road, and you'll be fine. Mostar's streets are generally well-maintained, and the traffic is not as heavy compared to larger cities.

Speed limits and traffic rules

  • In urban areas the speed limit is 50 km/h.
  • On non-urban roads it's 80 km/h, while on motorways it's 130 km/h.
  • Seat belts are mandatory for everyone in the car.
  • Children under 12 years can't travel in the front seat.

Car class recommendations

While there's no definitive answer to which class is the best, a compact car can be a good choice for those planning to spend most of their time in the city. If you're traveling with family or a group of friends, a minivan might be more suitable. And if you are going to explore more remote areas, a 4x4 would be the best choice.

Parking

Mostar has several public parking lots. It's pay-and-display, and the tariffs depend on the zone (Ranging from 1KM/hr Zone to 2KM/hr Zone). Also, some hotels offer private parking at an extra fee.

Day trips out of Mostar

With a car, neighboring cities and attractions become easily accessible. Check out Kravice Waterfalls, a natural wonder only 40km away from Mostar. Or drive to Međugorje, just 25km away, one of the most famous Roman Catholic pilgrimage destinations in the world.
