Located between the city of Rayong and the resort city of Pattaya, U-Tapao International Airport serves as a convenient entry point for tourists bound for the Eastern Seaboard of Thailand. Built by the United States during the Vietnam War, the airport is now a rising star in Thailand aviation industry with its strategic location and facilitative services.
Upon arrival, you'll find several car rental companies right at the terminal. They range from international chains like Sixt, Avis and Hertz to local providers like Thai Rent A Car. Need a compact car for city cruising or a spacious SUV for a family retreat? You're sure to find a suitable option at different price ranges.
Thanks to the airport's strategic location, it's a short drive to Pattaya City (45 minutes), Rayong City (1 hour), and the idyllic Koh Samet (1.5 hours). Hop on Route 331 to get to Pattaya or choose Route 36 for Rayong. For Koh Samet, drive towards Ban Phe and take a short ferry.
There are several gas stations nearby the airport, including PTT and Bangchak. Don't forget to fill up before hitting the road!
The official currency in Thailand is Thai Baht. You can find ATMs and Currency Exchange booths inside the airport for your convenience.
